The Body Condition Score is an internationally recognized 1–9 scale used to assess a cat's body composition:

Score Status Key Indicators
1–3 Underweight Ribs, spine, and pelvis visibly prominent. Severe abdominal tuck. May indicate malnutrition or underlying disease.
4–5 ✅ Ideal Ribs not visible but easily felt with light touch. Visible waist from above, slight abdominal tuck from the side.
6–9 Overweight to Obese Ribs difficult to feel beneath a thick fat layer. No waist definition, belly sags. Higher risk of diabetes, arthritis, and hepatic lipidosis.

  1. Tap "Log Body Condition" from the Quick Actions menu.
  2. Take a top-down or side-view photo of your cat.
